Hospital Chaplains offer pastoral, spiritual and religious care to patients and whānau in 40  New Zealand hospitals. Chaplains listen and provide service to all people, regardless of their background, and they do so with passion, reverence and insight.

The Interchurch Council for Hospital Chaplaincy (ICHC) is a registered charitable organisation formed by nine partner churches, working in collaboration with stakeholders to provide chaplaincy services in hospital communities. They receive funding from Te Whatu Ora, the churches, grants and donations.

A fundraising strategy has been developed and now the organisation needs someone on a 12 month fixed term basis to bring the strategy to life, help raise the organisational profile and grow awareness of the impact of their work.

Responsibilities include identifying and developing opportunities for funding and partnerships, leading and engaging in fundraising campaigns, sourcing and applying for grants as well as developing partnerships with potential sponsors. You’ll have multiple opportunities to utilise your communications skills and experience to deliver high quality targeted material for a variety of channels and audiences.

This position will be for a 12 month fixed term. The National Office is based in Wellington, but other locations around New Zealand will be considered.

ICHC is open to considering part time or full time hours (anything from 20 hours per week).

Person Profile:

  • Experience implementing and contributing to strategies that encompass the full spectrum of fundraising activities
  • Knowledge of donor stewardship, fundraising principles and best practice
  • A track record of success in, and commitment to, building and maintaining exceptional relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A commitment to delivering excellent customer service
  • A strong team player
  • A self-starter, driven and highly self-motivated
  • An empathy towards the mission and values of Hospital Chaplaincy
