The University of Otago is New Zealand's first and oldest University. It has a strong teaching and research tradition and well-established national and international linkages.

The University's fundraising activity and alumni engagement is undertaken from the Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO). It is an exciting time to be a part of the Professional Fundraising and Alumni Engagement team in DARO, so that the goodwill, nostalgia and willingness to support the University is leveraged and maximised for the future of the University.

The role/Te mahi

Reporting to the Alumni Engagement Manager, you are part of the team responsible for creating and implementing a professional and engaged network of Alumni and friends for the University of Otago.

Your role is important to achieving growth in alumni engagement strategies that align with the University's strategic goals and objectives.

Key tasks include the following:

  • Building strong relationships with other staff in the DARO team
  • Working with the Alumni Engagement team to effectively communicate and work with departments and divisions across the University
  • Providing administrative and project support to the Alumni
  • Manager which will enable DARO to deliver on a wide range of alumni engagement strategies and activities

Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako:

  • You will be an excellent communicator, with outstanding organisational, administrative and project planning skills
  • You will think strategically, while having the ability to distil large amounts of information and triage and execute more tactical requests
  • You will be collaborative, solutions-focused and practical, with an ability to build productive relationships and manage stakeholders
  • Experience using AI assisted technologies and modern communication platforms and methods would be advantageous
  • Experience in delivering client-centric programmes, event planning or partnership building will be advantageous

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) permanent role, located in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.

The appointment range for this role is $67,566 to $72,086. Top of the range is $77,570.

We offer competitive salary, five weeks' annual leave, a 6.75% superannuation scheme, and encourage work/life balance.
