There are around 135,000 patient visits to Starship Child Health each year including around 1,000 outreach clinics where Starship clinicians offer specialist consultation and support all around the country.

Starship has New Zealand’s only dedicated children's intensive care unit and offers 14 complex medical specialist services treating children who come from around New Zealand when the care needed is only available at Starship.

Starship Foundation has invested more than $160 million into Starship Child Health, making a real difference to tamariki and rangatahi across the motu every day.

Through the generosity of supporters, the Starship Foundation funds projects and programmes to achieve Starship’s vision to lead equity, excellence and innovation to provide for our mokopuna’s hauora, now and into the future....

Starship Foundation funds programs which save and extend lives, such as the Starship National Air Ambulance, new technology and treatments which result in faster recovery and better outcomes, and supports patient, staff and whānau wellbeing.

The Foundation has set a new and ambitious target to generate $20 million a year by 2023.


Reporting to the Philanthropy Manager, the Trusts & Foundations Executive will build and maintain excellent relationships with a range of trusts and foundations. They will craft compelling submissions and proposals tailored to the criteria and motivations of those grant givers, and ensure these funders receive timely, engaging and accurate accountability and impact information.

The Trusts & Foundations Executive will work closely with the Individual Giving team to help develop and implement an effective mid value programme and manage the transition of mid value donors to the major donor program. 

This role will also provide robust prospect research to acquire and nurture major donors and deliver continuous improvement to the philanthropy portfolio for operational excellence and budget delivery.

The ideal candidate for this role will be an outstanding communicator and relationship manager, able to pitch for funding to a range of supporters and make engaging presentations to key groups.

Previous experience with donor databases, ideally Raiser’s Edge, will be vital for prospecting and event management and maintaining a calendar of funding opportunities.

This is a full time role, based in Grafton, Auckland with a salary of circa $80,000 and Starship Foundation will consider a range of options for some flexible and home-based working.
