The position

We have a new opportunity to join our Engagement & Marketing team as Relationships Manager–Major Gifts based in Wellington.

In this role you’ll be responsible for implementing our strategy to nurture and develop genuine high value relationships, and make business and community connections. You will identify and cultivate prospects and current donors in the lower North Island to negotiate and close major gift opportunities and corporate/sponsorship relationships.

The Relationships Manager will research and establish new relationships through both traditional and innovative agreements, as well as plan, implement and manage donor stewardship activities. 

The role includes both strategic and operational responsibilities. It requires some travel in the lower North Island.

 

What are we looking for?

 

A highly skilled communicator adept at building and maintaining successful relationships. Someone who brings:

Essential:

  • Minimum of 5 years major gifts fundraising experience or an equivalent account management/corporate role.
  • Tertiary qualification in business or equivalent (or FINZ related training).
  • Proven experience of developing successful fundraising propositions.
  • Substantial and demonstrable skills in high net worth fundraising.
  • Proficient in soliciting high value donations with both written proposals and face to face meetings.
  • Ability to connect with people and build genuine relationships to ensure that prospects become, and remain, fully engaged with our cause.
  • Very high level of oral, written and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Problem-solving can-do attitude.
  • Donor/customer service focused mindset.
  • Expertise in relationship management, including high levels of emotional intelligence and integrity.
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar relationship management databases.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, etc.
  • Must be able to travel.

 

Preferred

  • Knowledge and experience of bequest fundraising.
  • Research skills for monitoring the philanthropy environment.
  • Agility and adaptability to change.
  • Awareness of accessibility of information and the challenges faced by New Zealanders who are blind, deafblind or have low vision.
