This work is broad and covers the sectors of child development, modern slavery, farming & enterprise and humanitarian response.
The role
The National Engagement Manager works directly with key senior decision-makers in churches across New Zealand to promote and increase support for our Child Sponsorship programme. The role is focussed on acquiring new church partners of Tearfund’s work and journeying with current Churches.
As well as having a strong external focus, this role will work closely with Tearfund’s fundraising product owners to develop strategies and plans to roll out our fundraising products to Churches. The National Engagement Manager will do this by:
- Representing the views of the church audience internally in the creation of fundraising products to ensure their applicability for this audience
- Developing specific activity for the church audience that will achieve fundraising results
The successful candidate will possess the presence, drive and ability to regularly speak at and engage with churches at all levels to develop mutually beneficial relationships with Tearfund. This will also involve listening, thinking creatively about how partnerships can be strengthened, promoting Tearfund’s products and encouraging people and churches to become financial supporters of Tearfund justice and poverty initiatives.
The person appointed will also lead a team who are located in Auckland and Christchurch.
Pivotal to the role is the ability to offer empowering leadership, carry the vision of Tearfund and provide clear direction alongside a proven ability to deliver fundraising results.
We’re looking for someone who has;
- At some stage been in a sales or fundraising team leadership role in a commercial enterprise or NGO and have proven abilities in delivering results
- Experience working with a CRM and analysing and reporting on data is required
- Held church leadership roles and have the mana to build relationships across major churches nationally
- Demonstrated strategic abilities to create, assess, measure and respond to new opportunities
