SAFE (Save Animals From Exploitation) is New Zealand’s leading animal rights charity. Their vision is a world where animal rights are valued, and they work to achieve that vision through their mission to end the exploitation of animals.
This is an exciting opportunity to use your broad range of fundraising, marcomms and strategic leadership skills to ensure SAFE has an effective fundraising function to deliver on its fundraising objectives.
As Head of Supporter Engagement, you will be responsible for ensuring supporters have a positive and memorable experience of their support for SAFE through the provision of effective campaign management and ensuring the delivery of exemplary, efficient and compliant supporter care that develops long-term supporter relationships. Working collaboratively with the fundraising team, you will influence best practices in customer service, fulfilment and regulatory compliance.
Working in partnership with the Chief Executive, you will provide direction and support to the Fundraising team and assist with setting the strategy and budget and executing the fundraising plan to diversify and increase the fundraising income so SAFE can continue to achieve great outcomes for animals.
This is a fantastic role offering huge scope, flexibility and autonomy. You will enjoy the opportunities to contribute towards the growth of the organisation, help shape SAFE’s fundraising function, be part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and play a key role in decision-making.
This is a remote working position, preferably based anywhere in Wellington. Auckland or Christchurch location will be considered for the right candidate. Whilst this is a full-time position (40 hours), SAFE would be open to considering part-time hours for the right person.
Person Profile:
- Experience in fundraising particularly in the major donor space within the not-for-profit sector
- Knowledge of or experience across some or all aspects of fundraising (i.e. direct mail, regular giving, bequests/legacy, major gift, donor acquisition and retention)
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or similar
- Proven experience in a leadership role and a track record of leading and developing successful fundraising teams and/or other equivalent sales teams/channels
- Experience in developing and implementing fundraising strategies and plans
- Experience in developing and implementing concepts and processes to support fundraising/marketing activities
- Strong analytical skills, able to analyse information effectively (including financial information)
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to cultivate relationships and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Experience working as a part of and alongside senior management teams to deliver shared objectives and implement changes to achieve strategic goals
- Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise, work to a plan, goals and deadlines
- Forward-thinking, with the ability to identify and capitalise upon opportunities
- Computer literate and proficient with using MS Office Suite and other cloud-based office applications
- Knowledge and genuine interest in animal rights
- Demonstrable commitment to the goals and objectives of SAFE; dedicated to a vegan lifestyle
- Knowledge of relevant fundraising legislations would be advantageous (i.e. Privacy Act 2020, Charities Fundraising standards/codes, Voluntary Sector Regulations and HMRC & Gift Aid regulations)
