David Zerman
David Zerman is a strategic and hands-on practitioner in the Not for Profit Sector specializing in relationship based fundraising marketing programs, volunteer engagement and corporate and community stakeholder programs. David has been directly involved in initiating and executing annual and capital fundraising campaigns that have raised and disbursed more than $182 Million since 1990.
David is Adjunct Professor of Fundraising and Training at Hanoi University’s Faculty of International Studies (where he is developing academic courses in fundraising, resource mobilization and civil society) and International Advisor to the Vietnam Institute of Social Studies (where he is developing professional development courses for staff and volunteers in not-for-profit organizations).
David is Past National President of the Fundraising Institute of Australia and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, Fellow of the Fundraising Institute of Australia and Associate Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Service Management.
Sarah Barzel
Sarah Barzel is the Director of Community Engagement and Professional Development Training with Possibility Australia and Adjunct Professor of Fundraising and Training at Hanoi University’s Faculty of International Studies.
Previously Sarah was the Advancement Manager in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Melbourne. In this position Sarah was responsible for strategic community engagement and liaison with University Alumni and planning functions and events to further develop their long term relationships with the University of Melbourne.
Sarah is author of three multilingual books and more than 100 web based education learning programs. She has presented at international fundraising conferences in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Colombo and Hong Kong, specializing in strategic fundraising and philanthropic research, storytelling and volunteer involvement training.
Sarah, has extensive practical experience as a professional development trainer, university lecturer and grants writer both in Australia and internationally, is currently on the Board of two Victorian Not-For-Profit organizations.
Both in Australia and overseas Sarah has been continually involved in voluntary language teaching to new migrants. As a result of her international career Sarah is fluent in Portuguese, French, Polish, Hebrew, and of course English.
From Mission to Money
This three-part interactive Masterclass examines the practical process of turning an organization’s Mission into Money. Attendees need to attend all three parts as they are all interlinked.
Part 1 examines five questions based on the work of Peter Drucker that must be answered for successful resource mobilization.
• What is our mission?
• Who is our donor?
• What does the donor value?
• What are our results?
• What is our plan?
Part 2 works through the process of researching, developing and writing Mission based funding proposals to Foundations, Corporates and Individuals for projects of all sizes. Focussing on the grantmaker topics covered include:
• Knowing what you want funding for
• Researching potential funders
• Developing a detailed timeline plan for your proposal
• Making the executive summary compelling
• Defining your project need
• Choosing and using data to support your case
• Telling your project’s story
• Reporting back to and acknowledging the funder
Part 3 focuses on the reality of developing and presenting a real world project budget that is within the guidelines of a potential funder. Topics covered include:
• Researching grantmaker budget guidelines
• Having fun with figures to make your project succeed
• Developing big picture project budgets
• Calculating full direct and indirect project costs
• Using your organization’s budget to help fund the project
• Explaining your project through a budget
Cancellation Policy
FINZ Cancellation Policy
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing.
For cancellations between 25 and 15 days prior to the commencement of Masterclasses, FINZ will refund the registration less an administration charge of $55.00.
For cancellations of Masterclasses between 14 days and 8 days prior, 50% will be charged.
For cancellations less than 7 days prior to Masterclasses, the total amount will be charged.
